New Year’s Resolution, “Will Power Weight Loss Secrets”

Another year has gone past and after all the festivities, one has to wonder what health resolution will we make this year that will stick?  It seems as we age we notice an ever increasing presence of body weight tipping the scale a little more each year.  And with that being said, we continually swear to eliminate our bad eating habits, begin a meaningful exercise program and do away with our unhealthy vices.  We tell ourselves we’re going to get serious this time and get fit.  I realize we all have good health intentions, this is easier said than done.  I know when I was younger like many of you we had fast metabolisms and unstoppable energy, a typical youth profile.  However, with age, we have to learn to change our habits to accommodate a slower metabolism and learn to enjoy life without the excesses, or we risk unnecessary ill-health conditions.  After all, it is now our job to fulfill the role of wise elder.  Remember our children follow our examples.  If they see us do foolish unhealthy things in our thirties and forties, they’ll most likely follow in suit.

Before I get into the meat of the New Year’s Resolution and Secret to Healthier-Longer Living, I’d like to preface this article with some necessary information.  As we age, most of us tend to decrease our levels of activity, sit around more and increase food intake.  And with age, this is the worst possible habit you could get yourself into.  The human body is genetically designed to begin the dying process after the age of 25.   After the age of 25 our body’s metabolisms begin to slow down, ever so unnoticeably.  Most of us don’t notice this change in our bodies until we are in our mid thirties.   Weight and/or pain tends to increase for the majority of us as we tend to forget about our health and overindulge as a result of living a fast pace lifestyle.  It is my belief the gradual break down of the body while we age is God’s design and necessary to prepare the body, mind and soul for death.  With this being said, God makes it easier for us to let go of this life and transition into the next.  “Quality of life and life itself becomes a literal pain, at times unbearable, where the will to live is greatly challenged.  The aging process with the breakdown of the human body provides the will to die per God’s design.  “Everywhere we meet the cross!” (Quote, Fr. Steven Kain, OFM).

The only “true” way to prolong the aging process while minimizing pain and improve quality of life regardless of one’s health situation is to take control of your health.  Control of your life in this respect requires one to manage body weight, stop substance abuse, consume super food quality foods and stop overindulgence while increasing exercise and/or daily activity.  If you lose the desire, or lack will power to manage these necessary behavior health changes within your lifestyle, your life on this earth will be greatly influenced to a negative health degree.  Awareness to these health facts allows one the opportunity to plan in advance if your desire, or goal is to achieve healthy centurion, or just improve quality of health and life while on this planet.  If one does not care about such things the end result is a health profile that usually ends up impacting your life, family experience and shortening the life span.

Now I realize there are many healthy life programs to manage weight, pain and other illnesses.  I also realize there are many individual medical-health profiles that require customized weight and pain management plans, treatment, etc.  However, there is one common denominator that we all share regardless of illness or health treatment program, “the will and desire to improve quality of life.”  If your will power allows you to follow a healthy fit body plan and stick to it “you can” improve your health predicament, hence your quality of life.  It took you years to impact your health by not managing your weight, or care about other abuses placed upon your body making you ill.  Nor did you particularly care about your health until illness reared its ugly head.  This of course takes a toll on your will power to change your predicament.  After you’ve got yourself into this pickle you feel there is nothing you can change to improve your health, so you give up and say to yourself ,“Self, I can’t change, or I’m too old, or I’m going to die eventually, so the hell with it!”  You say these things not because you believe it, or want to believe it, but because you don’t have the will power to change or know how to excite or stimulate your desire to use your will power.

What would you do, or say if I could provide you valuable information and knowledge of secrets to healthier-longer living?  And if this secret involved a powerful addictive chemical equation that could give you the power of change toward a healthier you?”   “Oh, but don’t jump the gun, it’s not what you might think I’m leading up to… ” The secret is easy to master once you know the elixir, but does require action on your part.  “As a bit of will power is necessary… Nothing in this life is free without a little effort!   However, extreme effort will not be necessary once I provide you this information.   How much would you be willing to pay to get your hands on information that could improve your health and/or extend your life?  After all, I’m talking about information that could extend your normal life cycle 10-20-30 years.  Would you be flabbergasted to realize I don’t want anything to provide you this information?   And then you must ask yourself, why hasn’t anyone presented this valuable health information in a format such as this?

 I’ll tell you why, it’s always about the money!  Greed knows no boundaries.    I don’t want your money!  I want your readership where I can provide a majority of people useful health information that can be used in part, or whole to make your quality of life better and more enjoyable while on this planet.  I’ve been blessed with much in life and this is my way to give something back.  Health and wellness is a passion for me.  I want to share useful health and wellness knowledge with those that really want it.

I personally make a New Year’s resolution every year with one added health benefit to ease acute and chronic pain while managing weight.  I don’t make resolutions other than health improvements each year.  So, I don’t resolve to spend less, save the environment, work less, spend more time with my children, be a better husband, etc.  Not that these things aren’t important, but you should already have balanced these behaviors and activities within your day and marriage.  For most adults, responsibility, accountability and discipline tend to improve with a successful life style, so I don’t focus on these things at my age… I did this when I was younger.  Not that there isn’t room for other improvements in my life.  However, at this stage of the game, health is high on the priority list.   If you have not learned to life balanced other family, or personal behavioral traits, it may be prudent to focus on two things for your New Year’s Resolution including health.  Never leave out behaviors, or quality of life improvements for you and your family’s well-being.  Nobody said life was going to be easy.

If I didn’t focus on a health resolution each year, I might create a health risk that would not be beneficial to me, or family.  It is also true if you focus on one categorical theme year-end-out, the statistical odds of success are in your favor.  And with statistical odds in your favor, that means a healthy life plan is sure to stick, or that is the hope.   If looking to select a diet plan, don’t get into “quick result” diet programs that guarantee quick results!   In short, I will say, “don’t get suckered into these gimmicks!”  You can’t defy God’s natural order of a healthy body.  Man-made products using unnatural, or denaturized foods with additive chemical products defy the nutritional requirements needed by the body and compromises the body at the cellular level, even if scientific data shows positive weight loss results.  These results are typically short lived and harmful to your health!  The diet program promoters don’t care about you and the long-term impact they’ll cause on your health.  Remember, “It’s all about the money!”   These “quick fix” diet elixir concoctions will cause more harm than good.  Visit my health repository at the home site and read previous articles I wrote on diet, diet pills and weight management.  If you chose a quick weight drop result program, you’ll incur further ill-health risk or consequence to your body.

What Is Dementia, Can Anything Be Done?

Our family has been blessed as we’ve not know dementia.  I’ll make a slight correction to this statement.  My grandmother before she passed at 92 years of age appeared to have had signatures of some form of dementia beginning in her eighties.  Dementia is defined as a cognitive function decline beyond what might be expected as normal aging.  It is a disease that destroys brain function within various centers of the brain by way of many possibilities. Cognitive memory & brain function loss is not solely a cause and effect of Alzheimer’s disease.  Alzheimer’s is the most common and familiar form of cognitive brain function degradation loss.  This disease becomes more of a risk for those after age 60.   I wrote an earlier article on Alzheimer’s disease with strong ties to aluminum as one of the cause pathologies that put healthy brain function at risk (In Our Health Repository).      

While Alzheimer’s affects approximately 4.5 – 5 million people in the United States by gradually destroying one’s memory; fortunately, current treatment can slow down the progression and destruction of brain functionality dramatically.  Alzheimer’s is also the most common form of dementia and leading cause of death in the United States.  Those once diagnosed have an average mortality rate of 10 years.  However, there are those that beat these statistical mortality averages by living more than 20 years after being diagnosed.   Our younger population is not immune from Alzheimer’s.  Those at greatest risk for developing some form of Dementia are those 65 and older.

Dementia pathology (disease cause, progression and development), impacts the cortical and sub cortical brain function and can manifest its symptoms and disease through known and unknown cause agents.  Nutrition, diet and/or behavioral deficiencies leading to and/or influenced to cause dementia are “lightly” noted within this article.   Key pathologies and nutritional deficiencies that lead to Dementia: Alzheimer’s, Alcohol-Induced Dementia, Frontal Lobe Degeneration, Huntington’s, Hypothyroidism, Parkinson’s, Vitamin B1, B12, Folate Deficiency, Syphilis, Hypoglycemia, AIDS Dementia Complex, Severe Depression, End Stage Renal Failure, Cardiovascular Disease, etc.   It is beyond the scope of this article to list all potential Dementia cause pathologies.  Instead, awareness to possible cause pathologies and recommendations will assist you and your family in prevention, recognition, awareness and immediate attention to treatment.  There is an extensive list of pharmaceuticals that appear to slow down the progression of any one of these cause pathologies leading to dementia.  There is no cure for dementia, prevention is the best course. 

Recommendations:
1.  See Geriatric Psychiatrist-Neurologist if patient is forgetful, confused, doesn’t recognize people.
2.  If diagnosed with a form of dementia – Seek medication to slow down the progression.
3.  Dementia Prevention – Live an active mental-physical lifestyle, read books, work puzzles, get involved in community activities, services, volunteer work, etc.,  aerobic daily walking, etc.
4.  Studies show moderate (1-2 Drinks/day) consumption of beer, wine, or distilled spirits may help.
5.  Low blood pressure medications appear to have a dementia health benefit per medical studies.
6.  Mediterranean Diet – Consume plant foods (fruits and Vegetables), olive oil, cheese, yogurt, fish, poultry, no more then 1-4 eggs/week, keep total fat intake at 25%, consume less red meat.

Why We Need Super Foods

I was asked, just exactly what are super foods and why do we need them?  There seems to be a huge craze out there to understand how the right types of foods in our diet can greatly improve our health condition(s) and incorporate these foods into our preventative health, wellness and nutrition program.

What’s the deal?  Could this be the anti-aging or fountain of youth formulae?   Or could this just be another way to get money out of your wallet?   Well I’ve done a little research for you and here’s what I came up with.   There currently is no official or legal definition of super foods.  Also there is a common denominator of discussion amongst dieticians and nutritional scientists.  Mostly, the claims made regarding specific food items and benefits toward health.  The problem is marketing companies now are using the term “super foods” as a catch all tool to sell more product.  We understand science has come up with some very good data on select foods that provide extreme nutrient and health benefits.  After all, God provides natural good foods (super foods) as everything we need on this earth to be healthy and fit.

Only because of man’s greed have many consumer foods now become a blend of additives and chemically preserved and altered foods.  The chemical food companies, FDA, FTC, lobbyists, politicians, special interest groups and others control and back much of the processed food and chemical industries.   The food and chemical industries are worth billions of dollars to investors and keep millions of workers employed, much like our health, pharmaceutical and petroleum industries.  Money rules the roost regardless of whether these processed foods knowingly make our families sick.   If food is not in its natural form and/or man-processed (some with carcinogenic chemical additives) be suspicious and read the ingredients on the label prior to purchasing, for many additives are known to cause cancer.  If you can’t pronounce the ingredient(s) on the label, or understand what the ingredients are… Chances are it’s one of thousands of addictive chemicals used to addict you to a product, much like nicotine keeps smokers addicted to cigarettes that can have an ill-health effect on you.

I believe there are many benefits to consuming super foods.  You’ll need to do a little homework to determine what is backed by scientific research versus which foods are backed by marketing sales hype.  I will not do this for you because; everybody’s bodies and health requirements are so different.  Our bodies are like cars that perform better or worse dependant on the fuels, oils and additives for longer lasting maintenance free operations.  However, our bodies do not perform as simplistically as our car fuel analogy would depict.  This is because the human body is a zillion times more complicated than any car on the road.   Another good analogy is when you go to your primary physician for whatever ails you…  They may perform a combination of various exams; send you for an MRI, x-ray, or blood work for example to determine which specialist to refer you to if required.  Hence, to endorse a super food combination that would be “just right” for all that would read this article won’t be prudent.

Diet and Weight Loss Simple through Deprivation?

Q.  Do you know of any way I could lose weight and stick to the plan without dreading it?  It seems like every time I go through the diet process it’s boring, grueling and depressing.  I’m gaining more weight instead of losing, this is very frustrating.   I usually quit trying to lose weight for long periods of time and then begin to think about unsafe diet short cuts.  Is there any way to lose fat other than to deprive yourself from the foods you love and grueling exercise?

A.  I like you hate to diet for weight loss, let alone starting one that requires me to deprive my body of healthy and good tasting foods to achieve results.   All deprivation diets require a lot of will power which slowly reduces morale, creates depression and ultimately failure for most.  I much prefer a weight management program that includes healthy eating and fun activity, not deprivation dieting and grueling exercise like you see recommended by many published health experts.  A lot of health experts have no ideal on how to customize a healthy body, mind and soul management solution that will meet every health profile.

Our societal gatherings usually involve consuming foods like every other culture.  To follow a diet plan that excludes cultural or certain types of foods is simply ridiculous.  After all, we’re talking total calorie input here.  A diet plan followed to the letter that would prevent one from socializing at gatherings simply because they don’t have the will power not to eat certain foods is ridiculous.  In this event, deprivation diet plans do not promote a very positive experience and threatens non-participation in important cultural-social and family experiences.  Also deprivation diets for most will only create a state of anxiety, panic and depression.  For those that have wrestled with weight problems all their lives, “family and social gatherings that involve food are a big deal.”  Those that have not dealt with obesity in their lives have a hard time relating to traditional social eating habits and what food deprivation has on one’s psyche.  Everyone requires comfort in this life, for most comfort food boosts morale and staves depression.  Balanced food consumption keeps the body healthy regardless of cultural foods.  For all nutritionally balance cultural foods can be healthy for your body.

Following a diet plan that deprives your body of healthy balanced meals can create an ill-health condition.  What impacts are you having on your mind, body and soul through deprivation consumption?  I will list my top 10 health risk associated with deprivation dieting; however there are many more negative health impacts when unhealthy fad diets, diet pills, or deprivation diets are applied.

 1)  Deprivation of foods we love or need only makes you want to cheat on your diet loss plan that much more with failed results.
2)  Not consuming nutrients from all food groups will leave you feeling un-energized coupled with more sedentary behavioral patterns, low immune system, etc. leading to other ill-health conditions.
3)  Greater loss of will power due to repeat weight loss failures will leave you more prone to look for other unsafe fad diet solutions seeking the silver bullet will further risk your health.
4)  People tend to isolate themselves from others to avoid social gatherings where there will be tempting foods – Circle of family and friends isolation will further erode morale, well-being, and increase depression through isolation.
5)  Extreme mood changes typically causes acute -chronic depression which also has a direct impact on ill-health (psychosomatic) mind-body ill-health condition.
6)  Most deprivation diets fail and body weight returns with a vengeance solidifying failure, loss of will power, decreased self-esteem.
7)  Increase body fat and decreased muscle mass as a result of fad dieting, or deprivation results in slower, or broken metabolism.
8)  Risky diet plans can create behavioral patterns considered as OCB (Obsessive Compulsive Behavior) traits.  OCB traits are bad for your overall body, mind, soul and family.
9)  Brain function suffers, or does not perform optimally.  Nutrient reduction impacts cognitive, mood and physiological functions.
10) Sleep patterns becomes irregular, impacting well-being exposing you to other ill-health possibilities.

Outsourcing America Is Killing Our Families

    The retail marketing, distribution, revenues and sales models work like this:  Advertisers (TV, Radio, Print Media), Manufacturers (Procter & Gamble, Colgate Palmolive, Johnson & Johnson), and Distribution (Wal-Mart, Safeway, Kroger) consume enormous advertising, manufacturing and logistic costs to market and transport their products to your local stores.  Every time you pay retail, you pay a percentage of these other expenses, “including import taxes from products made overseas [Higher carbon foot print, fuel and shipping costs].  Overseas imports that we purchase also support unregulated carbon emissions that reach our shorelines and impact our health.  While at the same time our manufacturers get regulated to no end by our government to filter carbon emissions that also increases product costs.  Simultaneously removing us competitively out of the market for outsourced-unregulated and dangerous products.  This is a never ending economic spiral in favor of outsourced overseas products and services crippling our nation.
 

    The mega-monopoly corporations have no plan to partner up with struggling families to pass on “cost savings,” they simply can’t figure out what’s good for the American family, don’t care about the traditional American way of life, “or simply don’t care about the consumer for whatever reason.”  It’s about cheaper, faster, high volume production to keep investors into never ending profit gains at any cost, driven by “the almighty dollar!”  Large corporations are simply driven by greed; offer few if any environmental, healthy home solutions and are simply out of touch with the American family.  Now that our financial institutions have collapsed and the stock market has bombed… Do you think the products are going to be made any better, or safer for your families?  Will we outsource more American jobs?  Will the employment rate continue to soar?  Where will it end?  I tell you this, you can make a difference?  Don’t support your retail outlets if products aren’t make in America and/or are hazardous to your families health.
 

    “In my opinion the US corporations that have outsourced to foreign countries are “one” of the biggest threats to the traditional and moral fiber breakdown of our nation and “inflationary contributors” which in turn has greatly devalued the American dollar in the last 30 years.  Believe me I’m a capitalist at heart, but when the monarchs and czars remove jobs and compromise product quality the peasants become bitter and disinfranchised.  Where’s the balance? Where’s the fairness?  What is happening to the American dream?  I see dang-near 2 classes of people today, the very wealthy and not.  Since this seems to be the case, we must make due the best we know how.  The following information will provide more insight on a cost effective family plan for all your house hold and supplemental health needs.  Don’t pay outsourced retail! You don’t have to do this!
 

    The more products imported from foreign markets, the less buying power your hard earned dollars will provide for your family, especially in today’s economy.  If we’re not exporting (manufacturing and selling American made products abroad) and we continue importing (buying foreign manufactured products), we’re telling the international market, our stuff is crap because we prefer products out side of the U.S. Sooner or later, “our Rome will fall and we’ll be ruled by other countries!”  “Do some research on “the fall of Rome.”  We now outsource much of our nations manufacturing jobs overseas.  What’s next?  Outsourcing our military, “Can You Say Blackwater, or Halliburton.”  Rome followed a path similar to our present scenario and look what happened to them.  Rome and its culture became extinct!  Think it couldn’t happen here?  Think again!”  Most of the products you consume on a daily basis are now manufactured overseas (outsourcing as a result of global mega-conglomerate merges).  This not only takes away American jobs, but even more so then ever, the consumer “is not” and “can not” be protected by every safe consumer standard meeting FDA and other U.S. regulatory safe product requirement.

    Also, most of you are knowledgeable in the fact outsourced manufacturing occurs predominately in poor countries where poor human working conditions is the case.  This in itself is outrageous!  We don’t accept those barbaric human practices in our country, but we’ll support the continuation of those practices by shopping at Wal-Mart, etc., where almost all products now come from China.  Why do you think the products are so cheap… Child slave labor, horrible work conditions in sweat shops, etc? 
 

    The greatest potential risk and most grievous infraction by the mogul corporate giants is they’d have you believe they have your family’s best health interest at heart.  If you really want a good read on what’s going into our products and how big business plans to increase profits at any cost, which definitely is making our families sick… This will get your blood boiling, read “Natural Cures, By Kevin Trudeau.”  “After you get further educated on the inside strategy of our global corporate industries… Chemical, food and pharmaceutical, etc., the truth will hit you upside the head really fast.”  I thanked my mother for giving this book to me as a gift.  It opened my eyes to a world of manufacturing corruption.  I also validated information within the book by further research on the Internet to substantiate some facts I was reading.  The cheapened chemicals these corporate giants are using within our everyday home products and foods are slowly killing us.  Outsourcing our American jobs also equates to further cheapening the quality of products which are now a further health hazard. Then again as Kevin Trudeau coined quite nicely throughout the book, “It’s all about the money’ we should be “mad as hell and we’re not going to take it anymore!”
   

    One example recently in the news media and I’m sure all are aware by now, “heavy lead found in toys shipped from China had recently circulated throughout our retail outlets by the 10’s or thousands of product units and have been recalled as determined a health risk for your children [Global News, 2007].”  As of 2008, this news now seems to be the norm.  It’s in the toys, the candy, home products, etc., where will it all end!  How about the multitude of health illness risk we are now exposed to and most unaware.  “Let’s keep American jobs here, produce safe healthy products for our families and return cost savings and jobs back to hard working American families.  In my opinion the Wellness Company” business model is no different then what I remembered as a kid… Old brick and mortar companies like Mongomary Wards, etc.,  that cared about American culture, the people and great American made products.  The Wellness company is a similar company from the aspect it manufactures its own entire product line, nearly 400 clean green home use and healthy products by the American people in Idaho Falls, ID. 
 
     Corporate business models will always follow a product demand manufacturing model. Show American corporations what services and products the American families expect and value and even the biggest corporate companies will have no choice but to stay competitive if they want to stay in business.  “No body” manufactures and produces better products in the world then the American people.  And if any big wig tells you it’s cheaper to outsource and globalize, “tell them to stuff it!”  What is cheap hazardous outsourced production doing to our food, home products, health industries, etc.?
