Is Pancreatic Cancer on the Rise?

MAE VIDEO – Marc Compares Swayze & Landon\’s Pancreatic Disease Deaths      Marc MAE Fitness & Pain Management Consultant

I  was motivated to know more about Pancreatic Cancer after the death of Patrick Swazye.  But I was most impacted in 1991 by Michael Landon’s death.  However at that point, I was in a different time and place with my life.  Instead of realizing the seriousness of this insidious death sentence, I thought “how unfair and what a loss to all that admired his work “and the person.”  I figured this was an isolated and unfortunate rare occurrence. Then the news of Patrick Swazye’s pancreatic cancer story came and went some 18 years later.  He too was someone I admired like many of you out there.  This left me to ponder… Is pancreatic cancer or cancer in general on the rise?  Is it a geographical thing?  After all, both of these actors lived in Southern California.  Is there any way to prevent, or remove this cancer from the body once it takes hold?  I had so many unanswered questions in my head at this point in time.  These two people I greatly admired for their work.  This drew upon my curiosity as a health conscious individual to know more about their lifestyles and could they have done anything differently to change their outcome?  I decided to write this piece as a two part article.  First, let’s look at these two individual’s to see if we can determine some commonalities.  In the second piece (part2), we’ll review the statistical cancer information to draw on some presumptive conclusions in answering these questions.

Like most of you I was an avid follower of Michael Landon.  My favorite shows as a kid were Bonanza, Little House on the Prairie and Highway to Heaven series.  Michael Landon was diagnosed with Aden Carcinoma at the age of 54 on 5 April 1991 and immediately underwent chemo therapy.  His cancer had spread to his liver at first causing stomach cramps receiving his diagnosis 7 weeks later.  The cancer became inoperable due to the cancer spreading to the liver and lymph node system.  Only 1% of patients with this combination survive the full five year period.  He died in Malibu, CA on 1 July 1991.  Potential cause of cancer for this patient, heavy alcohol consumption and a four pack per day smoking habit.   I also followed many Hollywood movies that Patrick Swazye appeared in.  Three of his movies I can think of immediately, “Dirty Dancing, Next of Kin and Roadhouse.”   Swayze was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer in March 2008 and underwent chemo therapy with new experimental drugs (vatalanib/gemcitabine) to shrink the tumor by preventing the development of new blood vessels that would otherwise nourish it.   After more than a year of cancer, Swazye completed 13 episodes of the beast without pain medication.  Swayze Died, 14 Sept 2009 at the age of 57.  Since the cancer spread to his liver surgery would help him.  His life expectancy after diagnosis was 5 months.  He lived 20 months after diagnosis.  He’s a strong guy, and he’s got a great attitude,” says Ron Wise, a Cedars-Sinai spokesman, “in my experience, that has a lot to do with how things go.”  Patrick Swayze’s biggest regret was his smoking which he continued to do until his death.  Doctor’s agreed, even if he quit at the time of diagnosis would have no bearing on his outcome after diagnosis.  See part two of this article continuation, “Pancreatic Cancer Statistics and Recommendations.”

What Is Dementia, Can Anything Be Done?

Our family has been blessed as we’ve not know dementia.  I’ll make a slight correction to this statement.  My grandmother before she passed at 92 years of age appeared to have had signatures of some form of dementia beginning in her eighties.  Dementia is defined as a cognitive function decline beyond what might be expected as normal aging.  It is a disease that destroys brain function within various centers of the brain by way of many possibilities. Cognitive memory & brain function loss is not solely a cause and effect of Alzheimer’s disease.  Alzheimer’s is the most common and familiar form of cognitive brain function degradation loss.  This disease becomes more of a risk for those after age 60.   I wrote an earlier article on Alzheimer’s disease with strong ties to aluminum as one of the cause pathologies that put healthy brain function at risk (In Our Health Repository).

While Alzheimer’s affects approximately 4.5 – 5 million people in the United States by gradually destroying one’s memory; fortunately, current treatment can slow down the progression and destruction of brain functionality dramatically.  Alzheimer’s is also the most common form of dementia and leading cause of death in the United States.  Those once diagnosed have an average mortality rate of 10 years.  However, there are those that beat these statistical mortality averages by living more than 20 years after being diagnosed.   Our younger population is not immune from Alzheimer’s.  Those at greatest risk for developing some form of Dementia are those 65 and older.

Dementia pathology (disease cause, progression and development), impacts the cortical and sub cortical brain function and can manifest its symptoms and disease through known and unknown cause agents.  Nutrition, diet and/or behavioral deficiencies leading to and/or influenced to cause dementia are “lightly” noted within this article.   Key pathologies and nutritional deficiencies that lead to Dementia: Alzheimer’s, Alcohol-Induced Dementia, Frontal Lobe Degeneration, Huntington’s, Hypothyroidism, Parkinson’s, Vitamin B1, B12, Folate Deficiency, Syphilis, Hypoglycemia, AIDS Dementia Complex, Severe Depression, End Stage Renal Failure, Cardiovascular Disease, etc.   It is beyond the scope of this article to list all potential Dementia cause pathologies.  Instead, awareness to possible cause pathologies and recommendations will assist you and your family in prevention, recognition, awareness and immediate attention to treatment.  There is an extensive list of pharmaceuticals that appear to slow down the progression of any one of these cause pathologies leading to dementia.  There is no cure for dementia, prevention is the best course.

Recommendations:
1.  See Geriatric Psychiatrist-Neurologist if patient is forgetful, confused, doesn’t recognize people.
2.  If diagnosed with a form of dementia – Seek medication to slow down the progression.
3.  Dementia Prevention – Live an active mental-physical lifestyle, read books, work puzzles, get involved in community activities, services, volunteer work, etc.,  aerobic daily walking, etc.
4.  Studies show moderate (1-2 Drinks/day) consumption of beer, wine, or distilled spirits may help.
5.  Low blood pressure medications appear to have a dementia health benefit per medical studies.
6.  Mediterranean Diet – Consume plant foods (fruits and Vegetables), olive oil, cheese, yogurt, fish, poultry, no more then 1-4 eggs/week, keep total fat intake at 25%, consume less red meat.
7.  Supplement diet with a quality daily mineral-vitamin and cognitive brain complex supplement (see our Wellness Company Program).

Aspartame the Silent Killer?

In our March 08 monthly health newsletter, “Looking at yourself.  Got Health?”  You read our editorial “Aspartame and Shocking Health Risks,” exposed by Dr. H. J. Roberts.”   If you would like to receive our free monthly health newsletter, visit www.mirrorathlete.com, enter your email address in the subscriber’s box and then you’ll be on our monthly distribution list.

Within the March08 newsletter we learned some key points:  1) Chemical changes within sodas containing Aspartame are poisoning our families.  2) Related symptoms stopped once the patient is off of diet sodas.  3) Aspartame is a common denominator in our diet making us sick!  4)  There is a significant weight gain connection!  5)  Aspartame is extremely bad for diabetics.  6)  There is a direct connection between children with ADD and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).  7)  Children are specifically at risk and susceptible to Aspartame poisoning.  8)  Monsanto’s patent on Aspartame has expired, now there are over 5,000 products on the shelves containing aspartame; marketed as NutraSweet, Equal and Spoonful.  Uninformed parents are unknowingly poisoning their loved ones.  The American Diabetes Association, the American Dietetic Association and the Conference of the American College of Physicians know about this connection, also endorsed by the U.S. FDA!  “It’s all about the money and corporate greed!”

There is much information to further substantiate this outrageous chemical food additive practice, but we only have room to scratch the surface.  E.g., Victoria Inness-Brown’s family was addicted to diet sodas… “Concerned aspartame would one day lead to her family’s illness or even early death, she performed an aspartame experiment.  Starting with 108 rats for 2 years and 8 months, daily, she feed a controlled group of rats two-thirds the aspartame contained in an 8-oz diet soda.  Results:  Thirty seven percent of the female rats developed tumors, some of massive size.  Folks this a study where doses per rat weight is adjusted, using under Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI), set by the FDA! “The fact that aspartame is endorsed by the U.S. FDA as a safe product, and is recommended by many doctors as a sweet alternative in lieu of sugar is enough to make you go mad.”  Also, consider these facts, 1) “Does it make sense that what was once listed by the Pentagon as a biochemical warfare agent is now an integral part of your modern diet?” 2)  “Aspartame is profitable… E.g., Maryland-based biotech company Genex Corp., went from reporting $14.3m in 1985 revenues to $2.8m in 1986 after they lost their aspartame business.”  3)  “One 12 oz diet soda contains about 180mg of aspartame/15mg per oz, which equals approximately 4.5 packets of NutraSweet.”  4) The propaganda industry-machine tells consumers the ADI, set by the FDA equates to about 20, 12oz-diet soda for adults, or 6 for children is safe and acceptable (www.mercola.com).”    If the rats get sick consuming far under ADI, why wouldn’t we?”  Friends, it’s simple, “It’s all about the money!”

Recommendations:  Do not consume aspartame, or products marketed under the following brands:  NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, Equal-Measure and Canderel. Aspartame can be found in more than 5,000 products including, but not limited to:  Diet sodas, juice drinks, flavored waters, chewing gum, table-top sweeteners, diet and diabetic foods, breakfast cereals, such as Fiber One, fiber supplements, such as orange flavored Metamucil, jams, and sweets.  Join our Wellness Company Wholesale Program choosing from ~400 SAFE house hold & Clean Green Family Products!

Alzheimer’s Disease and Aluminum a Major Contributor?

Why is Alzheimer’s disease the 4th leading cause of death among our elderly, only behind heart disease, cancer and stroke?  The World Health Organization to include many other research teams has determined there’s an overwhelming correlation with chemical pollution and the elderly.  Research strongly suggests the common denominator to Alzheimer’s disease is aluminum.  Aluminum happens to be the 3d most common element we are exposed to in our environment on a daily basis.  Some consumers are more exposed and susceptible to aluminum, or have no knowledge of the potential health risk through exposure.  This simply is due to the unknown properties of aluminum and how it is being introduced into our food chain and everyday use products.  Autopsies have found high concentrations of aluminum in the brain matter of deceased Alzheimer’s patients.  Studies show us you are 3 times more likely to develop Alzheimer’s through the use of arousal anti-perspirants containing aluminum.  Also, municipal water that is treated with alum (aluminum sulfate).  Both entrants into the body are absorbed easily through consumption and may be easily absorbed by the brain through the nasal cavity (Public health reports, Natural health, University of California, Berkeley Wellness Letter).

Concerned about metal particulates from frying pans where the tephlon stick surface has become scratched and aluminum exposed, I immediately began my kitchen inspection.  “Off topic, it’s a noteworthy thought to keep in the back of your head…manufacturers of tephlon (M3 and Dupont research) show no conclusive proof that tephon puts your health at risk.”  However, there is much research suggesting when you get into varying chemical sealant composites to bind-bond-seal the aluminum or copper cookware as “THE” protective “HEAT” barrier, this may present other known & unknown health risks.  With regard to local municipalities, how does one find out “how much” alum “aluminum” is added to our water?  And why is this necessary?   The amount necessary to reduce algae and turbidity creating crystal clear drinking water from our city utilities dictates the amount of aluminum sulfate required.  If you drink city water, you are ingesting alum.  Due to the unanswered link between Alzheimer’s and aluminum, (some scientists) are urging the use of ferric sulfate, or calcium sulfate in municipal water as opposed to aluminum sulfate to accomplish the job.

Recommendations:  I personally searched for old home products “deodorants” with the ingredient aluminum contained within the product.  I couldn’t find any, I converted my entire home over to clean green household products that can be found at my website.  The medical research correlation between Alzheimer’s disease and aluminum is so convincing a prudent person would remove “all” product and cooking utensils (pots and pans), cosmetics, to include aerosols made of, or containing aluminum. If you see the word alum (aluminum), seriously consider removing the product from your home.  Off Topic, but relevant [in general], if “ANY” product has the words, “KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN” WHY?  If the product is not good for your children, it certainly can’t be good for you.  If you drink beverages made from aluminum cans, I highly recommend you switch to bottles.  I’m not sure how to advice you with the drinking water…there are far too many variable pertaining to concentration.  Contact your local municipality and ask about aluminum sulfate in your drinking water you decide…is bottled water any better?  We’ll cover this issue as a future topic.

Toxins In Every House Hold Consumer Product, What!

Let me start out by saying, I knew the acceptable FDA approved chemicals used in our foods and household products was a serious matter, but was appalled and outraged by the following statistics:

Ø      1965 to 1982 over 4 million distinct chemical compounds formulated.

Ø      At least 250,000 new formulations created annually since then.

Ø      Approximately 3,000 chemicals are added to our foods.

Ø      700 have been found in drinking water.

Ø      Over 500 can be found under kitchen sinks or laundry rooms in American homes.

Ø      Over 800 neurotoxin chemical compounds used in cosmetic-perfume industries.

Don’t believe me, [Rub a Dub, Dub…is Cancer in Your Tub?  www.netnewspbl.com].

For your family’s health, I want you to take this challenge to prove the statistical point listed above.  Look for 3/600 toxic product ingredients (listed below) found in your everyday household items as known carcinogens or a health-cell mutation risk to humans:

Ø      What’s Anit-Freeze doing in your shampoos, deodorants, cosmetics, lotions, toothpastes and pet food, etc.?  Yes the main ingredient is Anti-freeze, “Propylene Glycol.”  “It’s all about the chemical industry money machine.”

Ø      What are concrete floor cleaner, engine degreaser and car wash detergents doing in hundreds of other personal home care and cleaning products, such as bath & body products, etc.?  The main ingredient is SLS “Sodium Lauryl Sulfate.”

Ø      What is a known cause, or contributor to cancer, or of being potentially dangerous or hazardous to our health doing in shampoos, conditioners, bubble baths, lotions, cosmetics, soaps, laundry and dishwashing detergents? The main ingredient is DEA “Diethanolamine.” “It’s all about the money.”

Still don’t believe me.  Check the back of your household cleaning, or hygiene product bottles.  I’m willing to bet you have at least 1 of 3 of these toxic ingredients in each one of your personal use items.  Most likely, you have all 3, with many other chemicals I simply can’t list here.  If you are using products with these chemicals, the best advice I can give you is to replace all of your cleaning and personal hygiene products with our “clean green” wholesale Wellness Company products (~400 household items).  See our Product Wellness Stores.  Make the decision to change stores now for your families health sake   In the last article I wrote, I discussed at length the importance of good quality supplement absorption.  The chemicals in our everyday house hold products and chemicals ingested through our processed foods are at war with our bodies.  It is more important then ever to remove the toxic household product problem & supplement our diets with good quality absorption minerals and vitamins.   This would be the right direction in repairing tissue damage done by chemical absorption-ingestion and remove the source that most likely has made us sick for so many years.  This phenomenon is also related to “Sick Building Syndrome.”
